1. Speed Rating Of The Tire - Speed rating on a tire is what you will want to pay attention to and take into account for when you think about where you will be driving your car. The speed rating tells you in essence the safe stop speed of a tire, but keep in mind this is ideal for idea conditions. So keep in mind about this when you are buying wheels and tires for your typical ‘toyota corolla’ as an example, if you do not drive in ideal conditions, which most of us do not.

2. Offset On a Wheel/Rim - Every after-market wheel that you will look at will be rated by what the industry calls the ‘offset’. The offset is the distance from the center line of the wheel. This is usually measured in millimeters (mm). This number is very important when purchasing the right wheels and tires for your vehicle. Without doing body modifications a car can only support a certain offset range. This has to do with the axels on the actual car along with where the side body of the car ends. Consult with the manufactures of your specific vehicle for more information on these things.

3. Tread Life Number On The Tire - When picking out a tire to fit on your wheels you want to pay attention to the tread life number. This number has to do with how long the tire should last in normal driving conditions. So keep in mind how often you plan on replacing the tires on your wheels, aka how much money you are planning on spending on tires. Also keep in mind some tread patterns are noisier than others. Always ask the manufacturer of the tires about these factors.
