How do extended vehicle warranties work?

Category: Cars - December 31, 2008

The extended warranty kicks in when the standard factory warranty expires, and it’s more important as the vehicle gets old, hence when it is statistically easier to for the vehicle to need more repairs. It’s recommended to at least consider buying one of these plans, to get some quotes and evaluate if it would be worth.

An extended vehicle warranty will pay for any mechanical repairs that the car will need as long as the broken parts are included in the coverage. Most warranties include extended towing benefits, paid hotel nights in case of trip interruption due to a mechanical breakdown, car rental benefits and often 0% interest-free financing. Although every plan is different, a lot of them have very similar features.

Parts are expensive, add labor cost up to $60 an hour and more and you get an idea of where those high mechanic bills came from: that’s why you should get some quotes to check if an extended warranty would be a smart choice.

Make sure you choose an extended vehicle warranty that covers mechanical breakdown and offers 24 hour roadside assistance (do you know how much towing costs? you’d better have it included).

When your car breaks down and you have an extended vehicle warranty you just file a claim, go to one of the service locations they tell you (some let you choose the service location, many warranties have thousands of approved service locations nationwide) and they’ll fix your car at no cost for you.

There are a lot of extended vehicle warranties out there and all of them are willing to evaluate your needs and give you free quotes. Requesting quotes online gives you the possibility to choose the one that offers the best coverage at the best price, and you can do it from the comfort of your own home.
