Defective Airbags and Auto Accidents

Category: Cars - September 19, 2008

Unfortunately there are many documented cases when airbags do not go off as intended or at times go off when they are not supposed to. Both instances can result in injury and in some cases can cause injury where one had never been susceptible to injury. When situations like this occur the manufacturer is held liable.

The cause of such things happening can be because not enough tests were preformed before the vehicle went to market or maybe the cause is a simple error during installation. Often companies will turn a blind eye to situations such as these in an attempt to save money. If you buy a car that claims to have airbags and those airbags cause injury or do not prohibit injury you should seek retribution.

If an airbag fails to deploy or is late in doing so it can actually enhance the very same injury that it was designed to prevent. Sometimes airbags go off at various angles that are unsafe which can force the body into a state that is unnatural and unsafe.

There are many ways that an airbag can be defective and inflict unnecessary harm. Sometimes an airbag will go off at random. Remember that when an airbag deploys, it comes out fast and powerful. This is done on purpose to counter the impact of the collision however, if an airbag just pops out it can cause serious harm and even an accident. Other times the airbag will deploy at the correct time but will come with much more force than was intended. This can result in death. This is even more of a threat to children than adults which is one reason that children should always sit in the back of the vehicle.
