Should Government Tax You To Clean Up The Environment Of Causes Of Global Warming?

Category: Cars - November 27, 2007

This article is made up of my answers to two questions at Yahoo answers about global warming, taxes and trees: Global warming is a real issue. Whether man can control it or not is another issue. However, I don’t understand why a Government should tax her citizens because of global warming.

Global warming is not caused by a particular country alone. Burning of fossil fuel, coal and firewood knows no boundaries. There are no boundaries in the sky where the effect of green house gases causes global warming, nor does polluted air remain in one countryÂ…it blows in the wind.

What Government should do is encourage people and industries to find alternatives to gas, coal and firewood or scale down on the causes of global warming by changing to green alternative sources of energy. If you live in a low level area near the seas in some countries and experience the flooding and advancement of the ocean, you will know that the die is really cast.

Personally what I have done to contribute to fighting global warming is convert my car to using water for gas. This I hope will make some, though not noticeable, impact on the environment and reduce global warming.

If a lot of people including you do the same, the dangerous emissions harming our earth will be reduced to the barest minimum and, maybe, Governments will then have no excuse to tax your hard earned money for fighting Global Warming.

Another guy wrote at Yahoo Answers that the forest in his area of U.S. are really increasing instead of depleting, because more trees have been planted since the 1930s to date:

It is elementary knowledge that trees and all greeneries use carbon dioxide as we and other animals use oxygen. So it is quite gratifying to hear your story regarding tree planting in your area What it means is that the new forests are helping to clean up the mess the industries and automobiles are making of our environment. But unfortunately there are a lot of other dangerous chemicals released into the environment daily that trees and greeneries don’t filter.

I am a keen environmentalist, which was one reason I converted my car to using water for gas. But I am, however, disheartened that in places like Africa, the forest is continuously cleared for firewood and no replanting is being done.

The danger in ignoring what is happening in African forests, like I said elsewhere, is that the environment and global warming make the world even a smaller…global hamlet. Damages done to the African forest can still cause havoc here in the U.S. The industries and everyone who owns an engine or cars should convert them to use green alternative fuel
