25% of Primary Vehicles Get Better Than 30 MPG

Category: Cars - April 14, 2007

So, do you want the good news first, or do you want the bad news first?

Because this is a rhetorical question, I’ll go ahead and start off with the good news: according to a recent poll on Daily Fuel Economy Tip, 25% of us have primary vehicles that get better than 30 miles per gallon. Now for the bad news: 23% of us have primary vehicles that get between 16 and 20 miles per gallon.

Here’s what the total breakdown ended up being:

* 30+ mpg = 25%
* 26 - 30 mpg = 22%
* 21 - 25 mpg = 18%
* 16 - 20 mpg = 23%
* 15 mpg or less = 9%
* Unknown = 3%

All things considered, the numbers really aren’t that bad, especially when you look at the fact that 47% of our primary vehicles get better than 26 miles per gallon.
